This is one of two Grenaches, both made exclusively with fruit from our Purisima Mountain Vineyard in Ballard Canyon. Our goal with our Estate Grenache is to make an inviting fruit forward wine, highlighting the beautiful characteristics of the varietal. VINEYARDS & HARVEST Tiny yields of 1.5 tons per acre plus a warm season brought the grapes to full maturity earlier than usual, with harvest starting mid-September and ending in mid-October for Grenache. DESCRIPTION The Grenache starts off with a big nose of jammy raspberry, molasses, and nutmeg, along with floral aromas of violets and spicy lavender. A massive barrage of strawberry and raspberry jam is followed by a well-rounded core of juicy pomegranate. The wine finishes with long, soft tannins and hints of thyme and white pepper. Serve this one with roasted game, lamb stews, or even your favorite red sauce pasta.
