2016 Cuvee Le Bec
2016 Cuvee Le Bec
  • 90 Points
  • Sustainable Farming

An incredible Cuvee le Bec vintage crafted with 46% Grenache, 39% Syrah, 8% Mourvedre, and 7% Counoise, the blend continues to lean heavily on Grenache compared to previous Syrah-dominate vintages. Dark cherry, earth, licorice, and peppery spice jump from the glass in this rich and racy vintage of Cuvee le Bec. A little richer than the previous vintage, the added weight creates a dense and seamless wine filled with blue and black fruits, violets, and pepper. A nice mouthfeel and fine tannins carrying the flavors through the long finish. Enjoy from 2018 – 2025.

"I always love this cuvée and the 2016 Cuvée le Bec doesn't disappoint. Based on Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Counoise, it boasts a vivid purple/ruby color as well as loads of black and blue fruits, violets, and peppery herb aromas and flavors. With good complexity and a charming, forward, fruit-filled personality, drink this utterly delicious red over the coming 4-6 years as well. Drink 2018 – 2024."

"Beckmen's 2016 Cuvée Le Bec is gorgeous. Racy, pliant and inviting, the 2016 is beautifully done. Succulent dark cherry, tobacco, licorice and earthy notes all develop in this gracious, resonant wine. The 2016 finishes with notable density and power. Another year in bottle will help the tannins soften. The 2016 has a bit more richness than is often the case, but that is not a bad thing at all. Drink 2019 - 2024."
