Grenache Block Eight
2016 PMV Block Eight Grenache

Block 8 Grenache is back on track in 2016, an overall terrific vintage for Grenache, with explosive aromas and flavors of Bing cherry, strawberry, grenadine, and spices. Full, rich, and round with the trademark note of acidity which keeps the wine lively, fresh and pure, the 2016 is my favorite vintage in the past few years of his wine. Drink now through 2025.

"The 2016 Grenache Block Eight has a pale to medium ruby-purple color and intensely scented nose of roses, black raspberries, kirsch and potpourri with a dusty earth and anise background. Full-bodied, concentrated and laden with preserved red berries and spicy layers, it has a velvety texture and great length. Drink 2017 - 2023."

"The 2016 Grenache Block Eight Purisima Mountain Vineyard comes from 100% Purisima Mountain Vineyard Grenache and was raised in neutral puncheons. Sporting a translucent ruby color, with lovely notes of ripe strawberries, kirsch, underbrush, and spice, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a light, elegant texture, and a good finish. Don't let the light color fool you, this has rock solid intensity as well as tannin. It will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and keep for a decade. Drink 2018 – 2021."

"Medium-light to medium ruby; attractive, raspberry and cherry fruit aroma with spicy notes and hints of cardamom and toffee; full body; somewhat elegant, bright, red fruit flavors with good depth and acidity; full tannin; lingering aftertaste. While drinkable now the wine shows a slight harshness on the finish and will benefit with a few more years of bottle aging. Very highly recommended. "
